When June manages to avoid her chores and finagle her way into Grammy Comfy's claw-foot tub, she's soaking in aromatherapy bliss. But she's also soaking in trouble when the tub toys that Grammy has given her come to life. Shirking her responsibilities might have just landed June in more hot water than she can handle.
June the Prune is an imaginative adventure told in June's own distinctive voice—full of contractions, slang, and idioms, with a glossary included at the back of the book. Since her debut on "The Amazing Adventure Series" website in 1997, June the Prune has entertained over a quarter-million readers worldwide.
Thomas Tosi is a writer/filmmaker who, together with his wife, Heidi, has produced an award-winning children’s website, educational multimedia games, and dramatic films which have aired on national television, PBS affiliate stations, and screened in numerous film festivals.
He was born and raised in New Hampshire, where he and Heidi still reside. He takes pride in the fact that they now live in a solar-powered home where they grow and can organic vegetables.
"June the Prune" started life as an Internet baby. In 1997, Thomas Tosi wrote this fun little story. His wife, Heidi, illustrated it, and they decided to post it online from their home in rural New Hampshire, USA. The very next morning, the couple received a "thank you" email from a grandmother in Australia. Thus, began a World Wide Web odyssey. Soon "June the Prune" was praised by Netscape Netcenter, Yahooligans!, Lycos CyberSurfari, and the Los Angeles Times, resulting in thousands of people a day coming to read the story. Educators around the world began incorporating "June" and her adventures into their lesson plans. The online book was particularly attractive to people learning English as a second language due to June's colorful way of peppering her speech with contractions, slang, and idioms. Email from fans from continued to grow. To date, "June the Prune" has been read by over a quarter-million people.
I can’t go into much detail yet, but it’s another middle-grade novel and a throwback to the kind of book that I enjoyed when I was a kid. This one is about an ordinary boy with simple but misguided desires. His actions set in motion a chain of events that amplify to preposterous extremes and he has to deal with that and understand why it happened. Oh yeah, and it has doughnuts in it—so, that’s always good.
